That is a fair summary I'd say.
Regarding Vettel, he is a very good driver but he not a top driver. Did not put a foot wrong today and fully deserved secnd place. For me what he has not shown is the ability to soak up pressure when the competition is tight. Made far too many mistakes in the heat of battle and I am sure team owners notice these mistakes. A nice bloke with a decent moral compass but even with 4xWDC he does not make my top 5 best drivers.
Debatable if VB could have got mediums to the end. I mean what were Mercedes thinking there anyway? Stupid idea, perhaps they thought it would rain and everyone would need a second stop? Personally I think the pit lane clash was a lucky break for Valterri as I think he would have needed a second stop anyway. At least he got to switch onto hards while the SC was out and lost no places.
Renault, Williams, what can you say? Too late this season but both those teams clearly need fresh leadership.

Brilliant! nice find Forza.
Great to see the team spirit, not sure anyone else could soak so many lap tops in the work place & get away with it.

Not a big fan of Palmer either on or off the track, sometimes his insights cause some pause for thought but mainly they are mere ramblings and incoherent to me. The following paragraph is typical:
Verstappen tried his best - his lunge at the Nouvelle Chicane towards the end was a commendable attempt at doing the impossible - but it was never going to work.
This is roughly in line with what I have previously myself said on this thread I was unimpressed with this "Lunge" it was pathetic, had zero chance of succeeding, nearly took out another car and not just another car but the leader of the race and here is everyone falling over themselves to praise Verstappen for his move - which is exactly how his career started. It seems to me all this talk of him maturing is total BS. More to the point he should have been penalized.
His criticism of Hamilton or showmanship as he calls it is on point, he can be a bit of a drama queen but you know what its his make up its who he is. No, it does not endear him to many people for sure. Fan or not it was a very good drive by him, not great but very good. His consistency was excellent and his experience told in the end.
Nothing hides the fact that Monaco is as boring as it gets in F1, none of us really like the race. Thank goodness its over and now its on to bigger and better things and sadly some of the tracks we will be visiting in the next few months may themselves be facing the end of their F1 careers.... bit like Palmer faced his!

Having re watched the race again today I dont know why Martin Brundle was blaming Bottas for slowing everyone down too much as to why he came out behind Verstappen. Regardless of the speed of the last few turns Bottas was going to enter the pit lane first and everyone was going to be right behind him anyway.
The double stacking had zero affect on the pit stop, the crew were totally ready to go. The bottom line was Red Bulls pit stop was 2.4 seconds long, Ferrari with Vettel was also 2.4 seconds but Mercedes and Bottas took 3.1 seconds 0.7 second slower. That is what caused the concertina effect and put Bottas and Mercedes on course for losing out to Verstappen. The blame lies fairly and squarely on the Mercedes pit crew for costing Bottas that time notwithstanding the unsafe release by Red Bull which although in my opinion was correctly penalized it was totally understandable.
