1. They've lured Seb Vettel out of the shortest retirement in history.
or
2. Piastri has signed for them ahead of Alpine.
It's been a hard to guess silly season so far, that's for sure!

Looks like another case of handbags lol.
Alpine stands firm over Piastri race contract for F1 2023.
The Alpine Formula 1 team is adamant that its contract with Oscar Piastri for 2023 is legally watertight, despite the Australian insisting he will not drive for the Enstone team.
3 o'clock might be fun.

I know a lot of what's out there on t'internet about this situation is conjecture, but I was reading earlier that the timing of Alonso's departure effectively made Oscar Piastri a free agent. Someone suggested (actually Gary Anderson on the race) that if Alpine had made their announcement about Piastri on or before 31st July then he would have been under contract and it would be legally binding. Because Alonso dropped his bombshell on 1st August this essentially allows Piastri to sign with whoever he choses.
Clearly this could be speculation on Andersons part, but it sounds totally plausible to me. You wouldn't burn bridges with a team unless the ink was dry on a contract elsewhere.

Is this just that Albon has signed a multi-year deal? Would be more interested to see if Latifi makes it another year... or rather who will replace him at Williams.

Williams update on Albon- “Following surgery, Alex suffered with unexpected post-operative anaesthetic complications which led to respiratory failure, a known but uncommon complication. He was re-intubated and transferred to intensive care for support.”
“He made excellent progress overnight and was able to be removed from mechanical ventilation yesterday morning. He has now been transferred to a general ward and is expected to return home tomorrow. There were no other complications.”
“Alex’s full focus is on recovery and preparation ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix later this month.”
“Alex would like to thank the excellent care and support he has received, including from the nursing, anaesthetic and ICU teams at Osperdale San Gerardo ASST Monza, the FIA medical team, his Performance Coach Patrick Harding, the Williams Racing team and Dr Luke Bennett from HINTSA Performance.”
