Why do you think Mercedes backed down from this protest?

Maybe deals behind closed doors, big boys games, big boy rules & all that.  

I can't think of a team that hasn't been on the edge concerning the rules, most have played with their interpretation
of the rules haven't they, like Newey said "all teams read the rules/regs to understand them, then they read them again to work out how to get around them" >similar to that any way.
