I thought this was a nailed on Ferrari one two, then I saw it was the C2, C3 and C4's on tyres... Ferrari will be hoping it's a really warm race, because that tyre selection isn't great for them.

Max Verstappen is unfazed by the prospect of starting from the back of the grid in Monza if as expected his Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team changes his power unit.

He's probably right Forza... probably. The relative straight-line speed of the Alfa, Racing Point and even Renault means I wouldn't necessarily be as confident as he is. Monza is point and squirt pretty much with these cars now, sooooo, who knows. Top 10 definitely, but getting past a Perez, Ricciardo, Hulkenberg and Räikkönen might not be that simple in Monza.

I never understand a team taking one of anything tyrewise. Why would you even use a tyre you have not practiced on are the margins that fine that you dont need to? Maybe they are. Is the requirement to take 3 types in the rules?

Traditionally its been a one stop race (from my ageing memory) which is Soft and Supersoft, sorry C3 and C4 !!! Anyone think it could be a two stop (rain allowing)?

Selfishly speaking I am hoping for a wet race they are always fun but also artificial at times.

The rain seems set to have a significant say on the Italian Grand Prix weekend, with Friday and Sunday forecast to feature wet weather.

Qualifying prep may become tricky for the teams in Italy, with clear skies and significantly warmer temperatures expected on Saturday.

But Friday will be cool, with a 50% chance of rain, while BBC Weather predicts that rain is 90% likely to land on Sunday through much of the day.

Jody Scheckter will be at Monza this weekend. Celebrating 40 years since his title, he'll be doing demonstration runs in his (absolutely stunning imo) Ferrari 312 T4 over Friday/Saturday/Sunday.
