Money, money, money

I came across an overview of what the current drivers in F1 allegedly get as salary, thought it is an nice extra view on the field and motives of drivers:

  1. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes): €40-45 miljoen

  2. Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing): €33 miljoen

  3. Fernando Alonso (Alpine F1): €14,5 miljoen

  4. Danniel Ricciardo (McLaren): €13,5 miljoen

  5. Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin): €13 miljoen

  6. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari): €8,5 miljoen

  7. Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes): €8 miljoen

  8. Kimi Räikkönen (Alpha Romeo): €4,5 miljoen

  9. Carlos Sainz (Ferrari): €4,5 miljoen

  10. Sergio Perez (Red Bull): €2,5 miljoen

  11. Esteban Ocon (Alpine F1): €2,5 miljoen

  12. Lance Stroll (Aston Martin): €1 miljoen

  13. Lando Norris (McLaren): €1 miljoen

  14. Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri): €1 miljoen

  15. George Russell (Williams): €500.000

  16. Nicholas Latifi (Williams): €500.000

  17. Mick Schumacher (Haas F1): €400.000

  18. Antonio Giovinazzi (Alpha Romeo): €400.000

  19. Yuki Tsunoda (Alpha Tauri): €250.000

  20. Nikita Mazepin (Haas F1): Onbekend

Do you guys think money has an influence on drivers for their choice of team? I can't imagine it does not.

By the way; why do they pay Ocon that much? Two and a half times what Gasly is getting? Or Norris for that matter. Both would kick Ocon's ass on track.
Russell deserves more, but I understand that position.

Yep. And compare Russell to Bottas, thinking about how Russell showed Bottas who is who a couple months ago.
If Mercedes would like to save a couple millions a year...
