"It doesn’t seem negotiations between Renault and Red Bull are going at all well with Cyril Abiteboul saying Red Bull will “never be able to appreciate the need for loyalty and commitment.”
Red Bull are currently considering their engine options for next year’s championship, deciding between continuing with Renault or switching to Honda power."

"While Renault have powered Red Bull to fourth Drivers’ Championships and four Constructors’ titles, that run of success ended with the introduction of the V6 engines in 2014.
Since then Red Bull have managed just nine grands prix wins and have largely blamed Renault for their troubles.
“Red Bull criticising its engine supplier is nothing new,” Renault chief Abiteboul told the Daily Express.

“We have been with them for 12 years, won eight championships together, and yet Renault is still criticised. We are used to it.
“They will never learn and they will never be able to appreciate the need for loyalty and commitment to a supplier.”

But while Renault may lose Red Bull as an engine customer, they will continue to supply McLaren in 2019.
And Abiteboul reckons that is a pretty good reference for Renault’s work team to compare themselves against.
“If Red Bull is the aerodynamic reference, then McLaren is for the mechanical part of the car,” he said.
“It’s a great opportunity for us so we’ll see where it takes us, for now until 2020.
“We’ll see what happens then.”

Horner and Helmut (never a more apt name) really should learn when to STFU. Comes across as very ungracious given the glory years of Renault powered double championships. You can't teach people to be classy.

I'm sure Renault will be happy Red Bull are finally making their minds up lol.

"Red Bull has set itself the target of sorting out its 2019 Formula 1 engine plans by next month's Austrian Grand Prix, as it ponders a switch to Honda.
The Milton Keynes-based team does not have an engine contract for next year, and has made it clear it wants to see progress from current supplier Renault if it is to carry on with the French car manufacturer.
Talks have already begun with Honda to evaluate a potential switch to the Japanese manufacturer, which supplies Red Bull's sister team Toro Rosso has made solid progress with its engine since last year.
Red Bull will use this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix, to which Renault and Honda will both bring upgrades, to assess the relative performance of the two engines to inform its decision.
Both Honda and Renault's upgrades are believed to be worth more than 20bhp."

"Red Bull's decision is also likely to influences Daniel Ricciardo's contract situation. The Australian does not currently have a deal for the 2019 season.
Speaking to Autosport, Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko suggested a decision was likely in the next few weeks.
"We're in talks," said Marko. "Our internal schedule plans that we want to have a decision on the engine issue by the Grand Prix in Austria.
"If possible, then also on the driver.
"I'm sure there'll be a decision in Austria. There's not that many possibilities."
While Renault is poised to deliver improvements in power, it remains unclear if the full scope of its development will be unleashed amid ongoing concerns about the reliability of its MGU-K.
Until it is happy that the MGU-K can run trouble free it may hold the newer version back, even though it is giving away obvious performance.
Honda's upgrades for Canada revolve around improved power from its internal combustion engine, which it believes can be introduced without risking reliability."

RedBull Canada updates.

https://formulaone21.wordpress.com/2018/...bull-rb14/

It's interesting that RedBull opposed changes to regs for 2019. I guess they were maybe looking at the bigger picture, and its impact up and down the grid. They are the only team to run a front wing in recent times that matches next year regs. In Monza a couple/few years back they ran as little wing a possible, and their front wing features only cascade elements. Whether that will help, probably not, but they have some real world data already.

My previous sig was obsolete, McLaren ain't disappointing Heshy no more.
