Just to add to the discussion.

Fernando Alonso is on the “same level” as Michael Schumacher but has had less success than the German because he can “split a team”; that’s according to Felipe Massa.

During his years in Formula 1, Massa was team-mates with both World Champions.

When he first joined Ferrari in 2006 he was Schumacher’s team-mate and in his final years at the Scuderia, he was Alonso’s.
As such he has first hand knowledge of how both World Champions operate.

“As for pure talent, I would put Michael and Fernando on the same level,” Massa said.

“Alonso has the gift, the ease, of understanding a race and driving incredibly fast. A highly intelligent driver with extensive skills and I would say all that also about Michael.

Just for the record I do agree about the disruptiveness to a team but overrated? I guess he meant incomplete as he struggled to work with a team without a little disharmony, saying that Ferrari didn't deliver fully so maybe frustration, in terms of race craft top three easy imo

Who's backtracking? Certainly not me. I agree with what Mr Scheckter said about Alonso but I don't consider Schumacher the best F1 driver of all time (but I guess you already knew that). The most successful, yep I'll concede that but he's not the best by a long way  for me.

Wouldn't even be in my top three. Nor would Alonso by the way!

I would ask the author to re-title this, "The Fernando Appreciation Page" - I've been after one for some time. Unfortunately there is the resident curmudgeon, who feels somewhat different - hahaha Smile

As for Jody and Morini - hey it's all just opinion, I'll take what Massa said about both, over Jody (Scheckter that is) and Morini.

On a serious note, been reading a lot saying . . . . "he is one of the greatest . . . . oh no he isn't . . . ) lots of laughs, as I say it.

But on the driving, I don't think anyone can seriously have any doubt (except Morini) haha - what we can say about regarding Schumi, comparisons, is that Schumi was better at bringing the whole team focused on him. Was he really that that bad in a team? Been done to death, and we all have our opinions,

My favourite line from the last day or so though is, "he's possibly is a Machiavellian Megalomaniac . . . "

What a great compliment to any F1 driver, haha Smile

Anyway, as I've also alluded to, for those not a fan, Who will you turn to now for your pantomime villain?

Like him or loath him . . . it's been a hell of a 17 years, and like most of the great(s) individuals of the sport, we'll never see his like again in F1

Thanks for the memories, he with the massive eyebrows

for the Scuderia fans

92 Podiums

3 times runner up

2 WDC's

not too shabby at all at the end of the day Smile

and don't worry, they're short clips, but the first one had to be mentioned Smile
