Projected tyre life:

Soft - 5 to 6 laps (WTF)
Medium - 10 to 12 laps (face palm)
Hard - 17 to 18 laps (double face palm)

If that's what Pirelli think the tyres will do from data from the first two days here... I'm not sure some teams have enough tyres to make it to the end without insane tyre management. We could see them going slower than the F2 cars today. Sure there'll be safety cars that'll help, and the track will rubber in, but on those stints? With the tyres some have available? We could be looking at 3 stops for many out there today, and maybe even 4 stops for McLaren and Renault who seem to be eating their tyres. Sheesh, I expect Mercedes will call the race off by Turn 3 if they've got a one, two after last week's drama. Does not look like it'll be a classic.

You never know, looks like M/H/H is doable on those figures but will require careful management. Might we see the Mercedes go all out and try to pull a pit stop?

Still think Max is in a good position and the only threat to Mercedes today.

Says possible thunderstorms, but then contradicts that with zero % chance of rain! I think we could do with some weather to spice this one up.

Well without Safety Cars M,H,H will get you at the outer limits of these tyres to lap 48, which is 4 laps short. So they'll need a lot of tyre saving and probably at least one safety car to fall at a fortuitous time.

Agreed. Could be potentially very dull if most are aiming for a 2 stopper. Let's hope for some unusual circumstances.

What's with the stupid costumes? Just turned the Sky coverage on (watching MGP on laptop) and they's all dressed up like 30's gansters.

Who is dressed up like 30's gangsters? MotoGP riders? Sorry if I'm missing something.

Sky F1 commentary team. I'm a couple of decades out, think they are in 1950's fancy dress.

Herbert, Brundle, Button, Hill & Lazenby, they look like a cross of peaky blinders & the blues brothers....

Fair enough, just seen a picture online and I'm not sure they know what 50's attire looks like. They look like total pillocks, but hey, I bet they're all very well paid total pillocks.
