While the speed of progression in getting the work done is impressive, I still think it'll need a hell of a lot more work long-term. I also just look at the track and think that while it might be fun for the drivers to drive, it's going to provide shit racing... unless it's as wet as that onboard lap Forza shared. Quite concerned about both Vietnam and Znadvort.

RE: Zandvoort - NeilP - 03-03-2020

That lap took forever!!!!!

I really do not profess to know what makes a good racing circuit design but to me this looks to offer very little in the way of overtaking opportunities and I am sorry the banking is just a gimmick that reminds me of Nascar racing (excuse me I just threw up).

If the truth be told the only reason we have a Dutch GP is because of Max Verstappen. I can think of many places that actually deserve a GP more that Holland and no disrespect to the country its an amazing place to visit and I think their culture and life there is very advanced compared to many Westernized countries.

RE: Zandvoort - Antilochos - 03-03-2020

It is quite obvious that Zandvoort only became a F1 circuit (and with that The Netherlands only got a F1 race) because of Verstappen.
This is so forced, hard to believe that it will be a track that provides good F1 racing. Even with rain I am in doubt if the race will be exciting.

We have such a bunch of regulations for real estate development that normally it would be impossible to get this whole development ready on time, would take years (real estate development in The Netherlands is my actual job, so quite funny to see this happening - further, the company that builds the track and is a main sponsor is the company I work for; got the offer to attend on track during race to point the cars after race towards the scale; said no since I needed to be the so early in the morning, like in the middle of the night).

What I'm saying is, they are forcing it just to make a race happen, without any care if it will be a good race for F1 or in context of all countries that could provide and deserve a F1 race.

But maybe I am wrong, maybe we get a great race. I sure hope I'm wrong.

Well, it doesn't look like an instant classic. And that is being very kind. Less kind people might say it sucks.

What are the reasons Assen was not considered? I guess the bikes would be pissed off, but it is a better track for sure. Fun on playstation anyway.

Assen would be a better choice (and still not great or most deserving on global scale), but you know; politics, certain interests etc. Like a guy named Bernhard van Oranje-Nassau, cousin of our king (and I love the concept of royalty...) is one of the owners of Zandvoort. Do I need to say more?

RE: Zandvoort - Monster Hesh - 03-03-2020

Damn right bikes would be pissed if F1 went to Assen, it's a gem for bikes. Cars wouldnt work there, and would ripple the track!

That final corner should really open up attack on the straight, similar to Shanghai, but its entry isnt compromised by silly low speed chicane, on entry. As for the rest, only once they get there will we know, whenever that maybe. If i cave in this year and get the F1 game, i'll know sooner maybe...

Honestly, looks like a better bike track. Would love to see MotoGP at it.

Oh, you guys have parasitic scroungers as well? I didn't know that. Perhaps if we all chip in a few euros we can buy the royals a one way ticket on Richard Bransons Virgin Galactic.

Well, the MGP race at COTA and you'll be hard pressed to find a circuit with a poorer surface. The onboard you posted doesn't look quite as terrible as I thought, but it it too narrow in places for F1 cars I reckon.

RE: Zandvoort - Jody Barton - 04-03-2020

I'm not convinced about Zandvoort or Vietnam. We'll see soon enough... or not if we're all dead from Covid19. For me the track at Zandvoort if far too narrow into breaking zones and the lead into them often compromised by other corners. Thus you are relying on acceleration "events" and long straights, which Vietnam kinda has, but Zandvoort definitely does not.
