RE: Slow news month - PaddyB - 24-02-2020

Wasn't their a quote from the films something like:

"Don’t be too proud of this technological terror you’ve constructed. The ability to keep Kimi happy is insignificant next to the power of the Force"

PS. Is the "triangle" in the middle their attempt to get the Alfa Romeo grill brand onto the front of the car or do we think that this is the best aero shape?

Renault and McLaren, Racing Point’s two biggest rivals for best of the rest in the championship, could protest the RP20 come the season-opening Australian GP.

Racing Point unveiled its pink Mercedes at the start of pre-season testing.

The new car not only features a similar nose, front wing, airbox and rear wing to the current Mercedes W11 but it also has last year’s sidepods.

According to AMB, Renault is planning on protesting the car, claiming it is a complete copy of the Mercedes, come the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko reckons McLaren could also get involved.

He told the publication: “We are keeping out of it but McLaren and Renault will broadcast their opinions on this.

"Renault, McLaren and Racing Point are expected to be the three teams involved in the fight for ‘best of the rest’ in this year’s championship.

Red Bull are keeping out of it because Alpha Tauri's car looks like last years Red Bull, ditto the Haas looks like last years Ferrari. Not sure what I think about it going forward, but I think F1 has to have the debate. We need to sort this out.

Mercedes triggered complaint while Red Bull wants P2.

Toto Wolff brought the teams together to demand an explanation from the FIA over the Ferrari settlement while Red Bull’s Helmut Marko wants “$24 million” in compensation.

The 2020 Formula 1 hasn’t even begun but already there’s drama and controversy.

Last week the FIA announced that it has reached a “settlement” with Ferrari relating to last year’s engine but did not declare whether the settlement was because the Scuderia’s power unit was legal or if it wasn’t.

Rivals had accused Ferrari of breaching fuel flow rates and by passing the FIA sensors.

“The FIA announces that, after thorough technical investigations, it has concluded its analysis of the operation of the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 power unit and reached a settlement with the team,” read the statement.

“The specifics of the agreement will remain between the parties.”

Ferrari’s rivals were shocked and angered with all seven non-Ferrari power teams banding together to write an open letter to the FIA.

In it they expressed a “shared commitment to pursue full and proper disclosure in this matter, to ensure that our sport treats all competitors fairly and equally.

“In addition, we reserve our rights to seek legal redress, within the FIA’s due process and before the competent courts.”

According to reports, Ferrari was ratted out by a whistlebowler with Mercedes motorsport boss Wolff behind the letter to the FIA.

Red Bull want the prize money Helmut Marko feels they deserve.

“The behavior of the FIA ??is the real scandal,” he said.

“We should actually have instructed Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner to sue for $ 24 million in prize money that we would have been awarded for second place in the Constructors’ Championship if Ferrari had been punished accordingly.

“It is unbelievable what is written of an agreement.”

Marko revealed to F1-insider.com that it was Wolff who persauded the teams to persue the matter.

Neither Ferrari nor the FIA have yet to comment.

Jesus H Christ, this is going to run and run isn't it? This does not end well for somebody. Maybe ventilated knee caps would be preferable in this instance.
