So, I was expected big things from Leclerc, only 3 races in I know, but he's struggled, Giovinazzi looked better and Wehrlein certainly would've been. I still think he'll come good, but it might be too late for Ferrari. So... the big question for the Scuderia is who do they get in to partner Vettel? Current options:
Leclerc: too soon at this stage, Ferrari probably have until May to make there mind up, and I doubt very much he'll have shown enough to convince them by then, right now I'd give the odds are 100/1.
Ricciardo: I think this is probably who Ferrari really want, but they'll have stern competition from Mercedes and of course Red Bull. I think Danny actually prefers Mercedes, but I can see him in red. Odds from me 5/2.
Räikkönen: He's shown a great turn of pace this year, although the past few seasons he's looked like a dead man walking, he's never really lost the talent, just the appetite. However, do I believe like some in the Italian press that Ferrari plan on giving him another year? I don't know, and would he want it? I'm not sure. My odds, 7/1.
Alonso: I can't believe hus name has been raised again, but it's not as mental as it first sounds. Arguably he's been the best driver this season so far in races, he's still got it... but I can't see it. My odds 75/1.
Sainz: Yes he's a Red Bull driver, and yes he's at Renault right now, but Ferrari have been keeping tabs on him for a while. So far though Hulkenber has kind of showed him up so far. My odd have him slipping, 25/1.
Ocon: Yep, he's a Mercedes young driver, but is there a seat for him at Mercedes. He's looked very solid, has age on his side and will start being impatient for a top team seat soon. Odds 50/1.
Hamilton: At the start of the season I would have said not a cat in hell's chance, however, sluggish start with Mercedes, Ferrari looking better, contract at Mercedes still not signed... maybe, just maybe he'll find his way to Maranello. Odds 7/2.
Hi All
Thought it might be nice to send vids of what we all love about F1 up to modern day, I hope links and vids do not clog the site,
This one is for you FOG
I just read a great post from Orange on Sky about cars in the mid 70s and the unique differences and got me thinking "F1 cars are all about the PU developments and hidden changes" i really have to agree over the last 25 years maybe more there cars do look the same? Has F1 just evolved to where it can be on Chassis design or have things been taken away due to other areas being developed. Lets talk evolution
PS. I was enjoying the whole thread then that twat BoB ruined it
Hi all, Just a note on blue flags, in my view, before they were introduced there was a lot more niggle, & I loved it, drivers would fall out over the seasons & remember who had been fair (in their view) & who had not, this would be great if your driver was the one who got past a certain driver & bloody infuriating if it was your driver being blocked, it worked both ways some would jump out the way others would be completely bloody minded, what entertainment! Senna/Mansell would just force their way through others were less aggressive/confident, marvelous! ban the blue flags PLEASE! rant over Haha.
So the teams have a single week to turn thing round before they're in China. The track should definitely suit Mercedes given the characteristics of their car being front end happy. However, Ferrari look light on their front tyres too. It'll be down too the high speed corners this weekend so maybe even RBR will come into play. Also think it'll be a good track for Renault and Toro Rosso of the midfield teams. Historically Grosjean goes well here too. Friday practice sessions should be fun, I wonder when teams will start considering bringing a second engine into rotation. China is too soon I think, but if teams are planning on taking a fourth engine this year Baku and Barcelona will certainly be where it happens, but given the nature of Shanghai maybe some will take a new unit here.

Red Bull's motorsport advisor Dr Helmut Marko has claimed Lewis Hamilton "put up his price" after the Silver Arrows reportedly pursued Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen.
Hi, anybody know if there is any truth in this? or is Helmut playing games again?
Telemetry overlay and comparison, with analysis of qualifying. Been searching for something like this for years. Gives us a better insight for the "best chassis" argument Jody : D
It even goes into the Merc's Q3 engine mode argument.
I'll bring it to everyone attention here initially, but post the sites latest articles in the corresponding race threads.

Liberty and FOM will be unveiling their plans for the future of the sport covering, technical rules and all things money.
This is all happening behind closed doors.
Do you think fans/F1 world should be kept in the loop?
I'd personally l think they should. User group testing, which is critical for a product. F1 is a self proclaimed 'business' and for a business not to test its product is begging for failure. Release an overview of proposes and potential impacts and see fans reactions. I guess the problem is 'informed reactions', so produce a report of the simulations they must of run.
A small excerpt an from article over on Motorsport entitled `Why Mercedes and Ferrari are allies in F1`s new war....
"The trouble now is that Sergio has come out and said, 'The next time I see you, I'm going to punch you in the face.' And when he sees the people he's got to be sure that he's going to punch them in the face. And Sergio is not the guy that makes threats as a joke and then runs away from it."
Always saw Sergio more `mole from wind in the willows` than Rocky Balboa
